Spark is a very handsome tri colour male. He stands approximately
21.5" at the withers.
Spark is a delightful. He is extremely good-natured and sociable with both humans and
dogs. He is confident that everyone will love him (and they
usually do). Loving to be petted and to be close, but unable to sit still long enough to cuddle . . .
Spark is very affectionate. He bestows hugs and kisses freely,
but he's first and foremost my dog. We share a deep
bond. When I call his name, he's at my side instantly, gazing
intently at me with his trusting eyes.
Spark's intelligence amazes me as I observe how rapidly he learns
new skills in obedience, agility or household manners. He's good
at problem-solving and generalizing what he learns to other settings. Spark is very eager to please and enthusiastic, which makes training lots
of fun.
Motivation is not an
issue! He has endless energy and enthusiasm which we channel into runs at the off-leash park, agility,
fetch and wrestling with out Golden Retriever. I have yet to see
Spark truly tired (I call him the Energizer Bunny). The games
that he playfully invents with things he finds in the yard or house often leave me laughing
uncontrollably. Balls and frisbees are the sheep in his daily
life and he is very focused when "working" them.
Spark has always herded other dogs, brooms and snow
shovels. In January 2000, he was finally introduced to sheep for
the first time. He decided that they were fascinating, and his
herding instincts quickly kicked in.
So far he has proven to be a very quick study and I'm sure the
only thing that limits what he can achieve is the human he has as a handicap.
My husband, Dave, and I are very grateful to Cheryl for the
"Spark" of sunshine and enthusiasm that has become part of our lives.
